Withdrawal and Refund Policy

This Policy comes into effect upon application for enrolment and includes applications for waitlisting.

If The Sydney Summer School denies an application or withdraws a student based on an incomplete application, missing payment or incomplete documents, the relevant financial and academic penalties will apply.

To apply for a refund please complete download one of the above forms and return it to the The Summer & Winter School.

Census dates

 

Students can withdraw from their unit of study without academic penalty and receive a full refund until the census date. However, a late withdrawal fee may apply (see below).

Refunds

 

A request for refund is different to a withdrawal from a subject. You must firstly withdraw from your subject before any request for refund will be processed.

To request a refund, please download and complete the Refund Application form and fax a cop to the Summer School. If you are completeing the form in Excel format, you can send it as an attachment by email to info@summer.usyd.edu.au.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

 
  1. For classes commencing in December 2007, students withdrawing from a Summer School subject from 30 November 2007 to the relevant census date, will receive a refund of tuition fees but will be liable for a $500 late withdrawal fee.
  2. For classes commencing in January 2008, students withdrawing from a Summer School subject from 17 December 2007 to the relevant census date, will receive a refund of tutition fees but will be liable for a $500 late withdrawal fee.
  3. Students may withdraw from their Summer or Winter School subject(s) up until 4pm on the last day of the Teaching Period for that particular subject. However, there may be an academic penalty. The Teaching Period for purposes of this policy is defined in hours of scheduled classes from the first day through to the last day, excluding any final examination or assesment.
  4. Students withdrawing from a Summer or Winter School subject after 4pm on the relevant census date will receive no refund of their tuition fee.

Late changes to a student's Winter School enrolment

 

Withdrawal from a Winter School subject prior to 16 June, 2008, will not incur any penalty.
Withdrawal from one Winter School subject followed by re-enrolment in another course, between the dates 16 June to 20 June, will incur a $500 late application fee.

Academic transcript

 

For students withdrawing from a Summer or Winter School subject before 4.00pm on the census date, the subject will not be recorded on their academic transcript. Academic transcripts are available from the Student Centre.

Discontinuing units of study

 

Students may discontinue from their subject after the relevant census date until the final day of classes. In line with University of Sydney policy, students are not eligible for a refund of tuition fees and will have their subject recorded on their academic transcript.

Discontinue-Not-Fail applies if you withdraw after your census date but before half of the teaching period has passed for that subject.

Discontinue Fail applies if you withdraw after your census date and after half of the teaching period has passed, but only to the end of the teaching period. Students may not discontinue after this date.
