Merit Prize Winners 2007

Congratulations to our scholarship winners, each of the following students has been awarded $2000 for excellent work in the Summer School.

Summer School Merit Prizes

A number of prizes are awarded to students who achieve excellent results in Summer School.

The table below is a summary of the prizes available in 2007. Please see each section for full details and eligibility criteria.

Arts Summer School Merit Prize

 

To be awarded to for excellent work in a Table A Arts unit of study in the Summer School (covering the period December, January and February).

VALUE: $2000

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • No application is required
  • At the time of the commencement of the Summer School unit(s), the student must be enrolled in, but not have completed, an undergraduate award course at the University of Sydney
  • The student may be part-time or full-time, local or international

SELECTION OF WINNER:

  1. A decision will be based on final results in Summer School units of study received by the Student Centre on or before March 16 2007. No results received after this date will be considered.
  2. The award will go to the student who achieves the highest mark in a 6 credit point Summer School unit administered by the Faculty of Arts, provided that their final mark is 85 or more.
  3. In the event of a tied result, the award will be made to the student from the tied group who has completed, with a grade of pass or better, the highest number of Summer School credit points in that session.
  4. If the result is still tied, the award shall be made to the student from the tied group with the best academic performance in their undergraduate award course.

The Prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Dean of Arts in conjunction with Summer School.

Economics and Business Undergraduate Summer School Prize

 

To be awarded to an undergraduate Economics and Business or combined Commerce coursework student for excellent work in an Economics and Business unit of study in the Summer school (covering the period December, January and February).

VALUE: $2000

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • No application is required
  • At the time of the commencement of the Summer School unit(s), the student must be enrolled in, but not have completed, an undergraduate award course administered by the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Sydney (other combined 'Commerce' coursework degrees not under the Faculty’s administration will also be considered)
  • The student may be part-time or full-time, local or international

SELECTION OF WINNER:

  1. A decision will be based on final results in Summer School units of study received by the Student Centre on or before March 16, 2007. No results received after this date will be considered.
  2. The award will go to the student who achieves the highest mark in a 6 credit point undergraduate Summer School unit administered by the Faculty of Business and Economics, provided that their final mark is 85 or more.
  3. In the event of a tied result, the award will be made to the student from the tied group who has completed, with a grade of pass or better, the highest number of Summer School credit points in that session.
  4. If the result is still tied, the award shall be made to the student from the tied group with the best academic performance in their undergraduate award course.

Economics and Business Postgraduate Summer School Prize

 

To be awarded to a postgraduate Economics and Business coursework student for excellent work in an Economics and Business unit of study in the Summer School (covering the period December, January and February).

VALUE: $2000

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION:

SELECTION OF WINNER:

  1. A decision will be based on final results in Summer School units of study received by the Student Centre on or before March 16, 2007. No results received after this date will be considered.
  2. The award will go to the student who achieves the highest mark in a 6 credit point postgraduate Summer School unit administered by the Faculty of Business and Economics, provided that their final mark is 85 or more.
  3. In the event of a tied result, the award will be made to the student from the tied group who has completed, with a grade of pass or better, the highest number of Summer School credit points in that session.
  4. If the result is still tied, the award shall be made to the student from the tied group with the best academic performance in their postgraduate award course.

The Prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Dean of Business and Economics in conjunction with Summer School.

Science Summer School Merit Prize

 

To be awarded to a student for excellent work in an undergraduate Science unit of study in the Sydney Summer School (covering the period December, January and February).

VALUE: $2000

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION:

SELECTION OF WINNER:

  1. A decision will be based on final results in Sydney Summer School units of study received by the Student Centre on or before March 16, 2007. No results received after this date will be considered.
  2. The award will go to the student who achieves the highest mark in a 6-credit point Sydney Summer School undergraduate unit administered by the Faculty of Science, provided that his/her final mark is 85% or more.
  3. A student who achieves an average of 85% or more over two 3-credit point Sydney Summer School mathematics units will also be considered.
  4. In the event of a tied result, the award will be made to the student from the tied group who has completed, with a grade of pass or better, the highest number of Sydney Summer School credit points in that session.
  5. If the result is still tied, the award will be made to the student from the tied group with the best academic performance in their undergraduate award course.

The Prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Dean of Science in conjunction with the Sydney Summer School.
