Fee-HELP is a loan from the Government to pay for full-fee subjects. The loan is paid back through taxes.
Fee-HELP is available for both Summer and Winter School.
In general only Australian citizens may use Fee-HELP, however there are strict criteria which must be met. Eligibility for Fee-HELP should be checked on the ATO website.
You will need to fill out a Commonwealth Assistance Form and submit this to the Summer School office. The form is available from the Summer School office. Please note that you are required to report your Tax File Number on this form.
If you sen it back to the Summer School office please use express post.
All Fee-HELP students who a have enrolled with the Summer or Winter School (including those who may have withdrawn from a subject) will receive a Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN).
The CAN will be emailed to you with 28 days from the Census Date. This will indicate your liability (how much you have borrowed) to the Government for taking your Summer or Winter School subject(s).
You will have 12 days from the issuing of the CAN to notify the Summer School office of any problems you note on the CAN.
If you have withdrawn prior to the Census date you will not be liable for any tuition fee and will not have a loan recorded for that unit of study. If you discontinue after the Census date, you will be liable for the loan for that unit of study.
You can check to see what your liabilities are when your CAN is sent out for Summer or Winter School. Check against the notice that the subject you withdrew from is recorded as withdrawn and no liability is recorded. If you discontinued from a subject, then the CAN will record ‘discontinue’ and there will be a liability recorded against that subject.
You can print your own Tax Invoice at any time by following the link below "My Units" on the Registration Centre.
Log in to the Registration Centre and request a refund (includes credit card refunds).
If you paid by credit card, then please telephone us with the credit card details on 9351 5542. Credit card refunds must be made on the card used for the original purchase.
A withdrawal fee is charged for withdrawals during the late withdrawal period. See Important Dates for withdrawal deadlines.
A student will also be charged the withdrawal fee in instances where the Summer School rescinded a student who has not fully paid their tuition fee by the due date or has an incomplete application. A withdrawal fee will be charged regardless as to whether the student had decided not to proceed with their enrolment.
